Nelson Construction Inc. is building a single family research home on Wakefield Ln. in Farmington. The first floor will be 1884 sq ft of conditioned space and the second floor 1817 sq ft. This beautiful 4 bedroom home will have several advanced energy features incorporated into its design, including air-tight drywall using a critical seal approach to reduce the potential for air infiltration. The building envelope will include Thermomass® concrete walls, 2" foil faced poly-iso wall sheathing, framed with R-19 blown-in cellulose. The mechanical systems will include a 95% AFUE gas furnace, a 16 SEER AC unit and a 0.82 EF instantaneous gas water heater. Ducts will have R-6 flex runouts in dropped ceiling or floor joists and be leak free to the outside (5% or less). This home will also contain a 10kW photovoltaic system, which could potentially move the home to a net zero source energy.
